Week 1: From Field to Boardroom
Welcome to the third phase of our mental performance series. This month, we bring those lessons full circle by connecting the mental skills athletes rely on to the everyday demands of leadership.
The boardroom and the playing field ask for the same internal tools: focus under distraction, composure under scrutiny, and the ability to recover quickly when things do not go as planned.
Coach’s Corner
Athletes do not leave performance to chance. They train focus, confidence, and resilience as deliberately as they train any physical skill. Even though leaders are required the same abilities, they do not receive the same training.
This week is about recognising that the mental skills which carry an athlete through a difficult match are the same skills that carry a leader through a difficult quarter. Naming them is the first step toward training them.
TIDAL Tip of the Week
Identify which mental skill would serve you most right now:
•Where do I most need sharper focus this week?
•Where do I most need steadier composure?
•Where do I most need a faster recovery after setbacks?
Choose one and treat it as a skill to practise deliberately, not a trait you either have or do not.
